1. Open a new image 500x400, white.
2. In PI 10, click on the Frame icon on the top menu to the right or go to Photo, Photo Frame. Put a check in the top selection box to activate the frames.
In older versions go to Format, Frame & Shadows.
3. Ver. 10, under Photo Frame 2D, scroll down to the pictures that show the wavy edges and choose the 3rd one in.
Change the color to anything but white.
Use the rest of the settings shown below to set up your frame.
XL and older versions:
Click on Format, Frame and Shadow. Choose the settings below for the Frame to use. Scroll down till you find the image needed.
4. Now that your frame is on your image click on the Magic Wand tool.
Version 10 Version XL and older
5. Click on the inside section of the frame to select.
Rclick, Soften by 1px.
Click on the background layer in PI 10 or in other versions, press Enter to get the background layer.
Rclick over the selection and choose Convert to object.
You now have your Old Fashioned background pattern. Use the Bucket Fill tool to change colors if you like, and Save as a ufo file.

6. Click on Edit, "Trace" Edges, Selection Marquee. Use the Default settings and click Apply. The 'Mode' above will show 'Horizontal Deform'. Change it to 3D Round.
7. Open your Easy Pallet and click on the heading 'Material Gallery'. Click on the heading 'Paper', and choose R10 from part way down the list. Click twice on it to Apply.
Version 10 Version XL
8. Click on the Pick Tool and slide this piece off to it's own background and save as a ufo.
9. In your Layer Manager Delete the frame and pattern saving only your new photo background.
You may use this pattern to change as you see fit to other papers or what ever you may want in the future. Or you may slide it over your EP and save it there to call up later.
Make sure everything is the way you want it to be, and click on the Eye at the top of the Layer Manager to hide the background, and Save it as a .psd (PhotoShop file) This is the same type of file as a .tub/psp as it keeps the transparent background. You may also save it as a png file. :)
