Description: Create a lovely sprig of greenery.
This is part four of my floral note card tutorial.
Images have been reduced for faster page loading.
Leaves
1. New Image, white, set up like below.
2. Path tool, Custom Shape S49 (XP Brush Tip 3),
3D Round, some color green. Create the shape 49x70 px. Don't forget to save this as a ufo file.
3. Open the Material box above and on the Color tab choose the Gradient fill option.
When the gradient window opens, the Fill Type is pointing downward, your first color is #78FF78, and #00690E for the last.
On the Bump tab click on File and locate where you saved my bump file to your drive, and click on it. In the Density box put 75, less or more if you like. No other options checked.
With the Transform tool, Rotate by Degree, rotate this leaf 16 degrees to the left.
4. Duplicate this leaf and hide the bottom one from view. Select the visible one and Rcick, Convert Object Type/From Path to Image.
Duplicate again, and use the Transform tool to flip upside down, and horizontally. Move it down even or a bit ahead of the first one, your choice.
5. Duplicate this piece, flip right side up and sideways (horizontally), and move ahead of the last set of 2 leaves.
6. Duplicate this new piece, flip upside down and sideways, and move it up across from the one above.
7. Keep creating leaves with this pattern until you have 7 sets of leaves made forming this pattern. Make one last leaf for the end of your sprig. Rotate this one similar to mine.
8. On your last leaf use the Transform, Resize, lock the lock for the dimensions and make this piece small (around 44x51 px) like an end leaf would be.
9. Click on the next 2 leaves up across from each other (2 - upper/lower) and reduce their size a bit. Turn left by 16 degrees. Move them to where they follow an imaginary stem.
Do this with 4 'sets' of leaves. I am working on set 2 below.
10. On the 5th, 6th and 7th 'sets' of leaves, change the rotate by degree to 8. Do not reduce or you can just a little bit if yours needs it. You are making graduated sizes like a normal leaf stem would look like. Small to larger or vice versa.
Stem
1. Line & Arrow tool, Spline, 3D Round, color same gradient green, create a line starting on the middle of the end leaf running between your leaves to the end of your canvas. Double click quickly to end your line.
Edit your line so it's smoothly curved like the one below. Rclick, Arrange, Send to Back. You should now have this or something very similar.
2. Now with the Pick or Transform tool and your arrow keys move your leaves so they are just touching the stem.
3. In your Layer Manager grab the stem and move it up one place above your hidden leaf pattern. Rclick, Select all, hold down the Control key and deselect your bottom hidden leaf, and group the rest.
Duplicate your creation, Rclick, Merge as Single Object. With the Transform tool, Reduce the size just a bit and then use the 'Slant tool' on the left end to draw it downward. Now you have two different sprigs.
