Description: Create Beautiful and Easy Rose Petals.
Hi everyone...So many loved my technique with my rose that I thought I would share how to create similar results with you.
It is not as hard as it looks. Actually, it is very simple. :)
Go here and create Claudia's rose. We will be putting the finishing touches on the rose when you come back.
I am starting this tut at the point where you have already got your rose pieces shaped and ready to paint.
Step 1. I am using Path Tool, Custom Shape Shield 2, 2D, for the petal. If you don't have the shield use the palet shape. Color is your choice for the petals.
Step 2. Select a petal (do this step with each petal) and shadow it with this setting. You can remove this shadow later before merging your finished flower. This provides you with a way to distinguish one shape from another.
Step 3. Select your base color for your rose petals you already have in 2D like above. Select a complimentary color for your edge color of the petal. I am using white.
Step 4. Paint Brush set up like below choose width of paint to apply on the edge setting from 1-30 (one(1) is fine edge or 29 is wider edge, it is all a matter of taste and preference.) Now go to Effects, Paint On Edges and paint on your complimentary color on the edges.
Step 5. Smudge brush set like below (or to your own tastes) smudge the white into the red areas faintly. With single strokes of the brush make curved strokes so it gives the appearance of a curved petal. Don't go too deep. One important thing is to not overwork an area or if your hand slips and the stoke is too deep, use the undo button and try again.
Step 6. Now reverse this step by moving the very outside edge of the red into the white area with a curl in your stroke. Go slowly and try to be deliberate in your curved movements.
Step 7. The rest of the technique is shading and making it come alive by using a darker color to make shadows and give it depth as in the picture below.
Step 8. Make dimples in petals like this:
Step 9. When making the dimples be sure to make a trench so the petal looks ruffled.
Use your dark colors to give depth and use them faintly and sparingly. You see above there is not much dark color being used. Now just finish adding these extras to bring your rose alive.
Do this tecnique to all your rose petals and save! You are finished! :)
To Make it a Tube
Make sure everything is the way you want it to be and R-click, Select all, Merge as Single Object.
Click on the Eye at the top of the Layer Manager to hide the background, and Save it as a .psd (PhotoShop file). This is the same type of file as a tub/psp as it keeps the transparent background. :)
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
