Description: Create an Easy Jeweled Butterfly

Import my Jeweled presets to your Easy Pallet. If you need an easy tutorial to do this with use this tut by Debisty Designs

Wings

Open a New White Image, 300x300px set up like this:

With the Path Tool, Spline, 2D, color any, draw a wavy butterfly shape the size you want your butterfly to be. You do not have to be specific in your drawing.

Move the backside your wing up near the top corner so you have room to make the body.

Click on the Jewel Preset of your choice. Change the Border to 10 or less. You have to play a bit here to see what ever looks good to you.

When you are done playing with your jewel effect and presets, Duplicate. Save!

Body

With the Path tool create a long thinish (is that a word?) oval. If your wings are tipped like mine are you will have to start halfway up the top of the wing and bring your bottom down to the end of your wings like so to have it be long enough (approximately) :) Don't worry about the length you can fix it with the Resize tool after drawing it.

Transform tool, Rotate, grab a handle and line it up with the direction your body is going in. Fix your length with the Resize, Transform tool unlocked if you need to.

Head

Path tool, Oval (should still be selected), your preset should be still set draw an oval that looks good. Rotate in line with your body, and Resize if you need to.

Open the Material box, move Maximum border width to 99, move the border to 99, and put a check on the Smooth Spline box.

Antennae

Line & Arrow tool, Spline, draw a curved line upward. It will be light in color, but we'll fix that in a moment.

Now click on the preset you used for your body. Yikes! Now look what you've done!!! LOL! :) We need to fix that, so open your Material box above.

Set the Border to 1 or 2. There, that's much better! :)

Rclick, Duplicate. With the Transform Tool, Rotate Freely just a bit, and line the bottom of this one up in front of the base of the other antenna like so. Rclick, Arrange, Send to back - twice, so it's below the head. Or drag and drop to below the head object.

Path Tool, Circle, 3D, make a little circle 9x9px or what size looks good on the size you created. Place at the ends of your antennae like below. Move the first one you made down below the head but above the other antenna.

Select these parts Antennae, head, and body and Rclick, Group, Arrange, Send Backward. Move up under your wing just a bit.

Select All, and move down so you have room to bring up your other wing! Click on the last layer in your Layer Manager and move this out in the same direction your other wing is going in like so.

Select your top object or your other wing and add a little shadow to this one. Save!

To Make it a Tube

Make sure everything is the way you want it to be and R-click, Select all, Merge as Single Object.

Click on the Eye at the top of the Layer Manager to hide the background, and Save it as a .psd (PhotoShop file) This is the same type of file as a .tub/psp as it keeps the transparent background. :)

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
