Description:  Create a beautiful note card with trimmings.

1. Open a New, White Image 450 x 450 px., 300 ppi.

2. Path tool, 3D Round, Rounded Rectangle, my gold magtag (no trans.) preset. Make one in the Center of your image 16 x 61 px. or there about. Rclick, Center, Both.

b. Open the Material box and on the Color tab click on the horizontal gold gradient and on the window that comes up turn the horizontal pattern to a vertical one. We'll be using it this way for the following pieces (until I say otherwise).

3. Make a Vertical Oval 61 x 8 px. and drop it under your 'peg'. Center on the page, and under your peg.

4. Find this Curved Shape at the end of Ulead's Custom shapes and make one 62 x 14 px. Center, Both. Flip right side up, and Line it up under your oval.

5. Make another Curved Shape 70 x 21 px. Center, Both, Flip right side up, and move up under the first one you made.

b. Duplicate this piece. Send to back, and Flip upside down.

c. Match points with the one in front to make this look like one rounded piece.

6. Make another Curved Shape 64 x 18 px. Center, Both. Move up under the last piece you made.

b. Open the Material box and on the Bump tab change the bump to Bump031.jpg from your PI/Material folder. Apply at 100%.

c. On the Bevel Settings tab Raise (actually you are lowering it because it's a
(-) minus number) the Bevel Settings, Depth to 0 to give your bump a nice even shade all round.

7. Save this center pattern below to your pc. Bring it up to your work top and with your Path tool, 3D Round, Spline line trace around the edges. Smooth out your lines in Path Edit matching the lines below it in gold with your own.

b. Slide your Edited piece on to your own background and center under your gold pieces.

c. Rclick on my 'front body' white preset and choose Apply to this piece.

d. Duplicate, and Rclick on my 'gold outer ring' preset and choose Apply. It should look like the above piece now.

8. Create this shape below to fit along the side of your white body piece.

b. Rclick on my 'bottom side panel' preset and Apply.

c. Edit this piece until it fits along side the white piece's gold and the gold ringed top.

d. Duplicate, and Rclick, and Apply my 'gold outer ring' preset.

e. Select both the ring, and the side piece, and Group.

f. Rclick, Duplicate, Flip sideways, and move to the other side. You should now have something close to this below.

9. Path tool, 3D Trim, in my 'bottom side panel' preset, make a vertical Diamond with that shape in the Path tool selections. Resize to 23 x 23 px.

b. Go into Path Edit, Zoom in, and click on the top two lines one at a time and curve them. Close Path Edit and move over to the crevice between the front and side panels at the bottom.

c. Duplicate this piece, and Apply my 'gold outer ring' preset to this piece.

d. Rotate this piece by the top just a bit to the left.

e. Select the two parts and group. Duplicate, Flip sideways, and move to the other side. You should now have something close to this.

10. For this next section you will have to ungroup your parts as I point them out to apply our glass shell. You have two glass presets. Except for the two little diamond parts the rest get my 'glass shell' preset. The two diamonds get my 'diamond glass' presets. All glass parts go under the golden rings above the main piece.

b. Select each side piece and the front piece, one at a time, and Duplicate, apply my 'glass shell' preset and drag each piece down under the gold ring that belongs with that section.

c. For the two diamonds, one at a time, Duplicate, Apply my 'diamond glass' preset, and drag each one down under the gold ring that belongs with that diamond. When you are finished making your glass overlays you should see something like this.

d. Add a couple purple or your choice of colored diamond stones in the centers of the diamond shapes under the glass sections.

e. Erase outer edges of gold rings on the side pieces if you want. See mine at end of tutorial.

11. Path tool, Curved shape that you used earlier, 3D Round, Make a large collar that will fit from side to side around the glass section like you see below.

b. Rclick, and Apply my 'large metal collar' preset on this piece.

c. Path Edit, + sign, place new nodes all along the bottom line from side to side. Now in Free Edit pull every other node up high and the in between ones half way up. When you are finished it should look similar to the "above" capture (with rounded side edges).

d. Curve the sides too. My capture doesn't show it but it needs to be done. Put a nice small curve on the outsides.

12. Path tool, Spline, draw an under piece between the two diamonds like you see below. You may trace the piece if you like to make it a bit easier. Then you only have to Edit it to fit between your pieces.

b. Apply my 'bottom under white' preset to this piece.

13. Path tool, my 'bottom side panel' colored preset. Make a large oval 120 x 231 px.

b. Transform tool, Perspective, close the top up, and make the bottom wider to form an egg shape. Keep your lines straight or Undo and try again.

c. Rotate your egg 40 degrees to the left or there about or how ever tipped you want your open egg shell to be.

14. With the Path tool, Curved shape, and my 'large metal collar' preset, make a large vertical (length of egg sized) Curved piece for a band.

b. Give this piece a centered shadow.

c. Edit the ends so they are nice and round and even like you see below.

d. Select the Rclick, Convert to Object.

e. Rotate this piece the same amount you did your egg shape and send it over to on top of your egg. Do not rotate before you Convert or your bump file will remain straight even though your piece is turned. The grain will be wrong.

f. Rclick, Split your Shadow. Select the shadow and erase just the top and bottom edges where it extends past the gold onto the white background. Don't go into the shadow on the egg part or Undo and try it again.

15. Find your single Diamond Stamp and set your settings the same as above only Straight line, Size 29, and Spacing 70 or how ever you like them spaced longer than that.

b. Make short lines of diamonds the length of your gold band. Center them on the band.

c. Select all your stones and Photo, Focus using the center top selection. Add the color of your choice with the Color Balance or some other way to your diamonds.

16. De-Select all. Fill your background layer with the color Black.

b. Select your Egg. Rclick, Convert Object Type from text/path to Object.

c. Lasso tool, 0 Soft Edge. Start on your background half way into your gold band and follow the gold band down the length and off the egg around to the right and up to select the whole right side of your egg.

d. Hit your Delete key once.

e. Rclick over the Selection and choose None.

17. Path tool, my 'front body white' preset. Make a long, narrow, White Oval the length of your egg right over top of your egg.

b. Rotate this piece the same amount you did your other two parts.

c. Drag and Drop your White egg Oval below your diamonds, gold band, split shadow, and egg in your Layer Manager. Just grab it with your mouse and hold the button down and drag it as the objects roll up to just under those 4 objects.

d. Use your Perspective tool to pull the bottom out a bit so it has a more rounded end at the bottom and set it evenly like you see below.

e. Rclick, Convert Object type.

18. Paint Brush, Color #D4D4D4 gray, settings as you see them below. Paint where you see I have painted below. Stay off the outside back edge and not too close to the top.

b. With the same settings but Color #BEBEBE darker gray, paint along the front edge and the bottom/middle of what you painted before. Again stay off the outside right edge.

c. Dodge Brush, Settings 20 - 100 - 20 go around that outside right edge and make it evenly white and the bottom also sort of like you see below.

d. Now use your Blur Brush to make this gray even and even along the edge of the gray to smooth it all out.

Now, if you've gotten it too dark like what I see mine has above, instead of Undoing all those commands just go to Photo, Light, Brightness & Contrast click on the top right or center right selection to lighten just a tad. It rounds out the shading more like egg innards, also. :)

19. Select your White, Duplicate it, and Send to the Back for covering the back of the gold peg we made at first, and for that around the backside of the peg look. Turn view off for this object after you send it to the back.

b. Bring your Gold Peg you made at first up "above" your white inside shell object we've been working on.

c. Read before doing - - -
Select your top White inside shell and with your Eraser (30-0-10) erase what covers the post carefully leaving the bottom tip alone. This is a bit tricky here as you have to make it look like it's longer in front but still going behind the peg. (The other white object we sent to the back will help here.) Leave the front bottom edge of the white on so it covers the peg, but erase a U or semicircle going up the peg.

Zoomed, erase here - - peg on top of white - - white in back turned on.

20. Select your Egg, your white inside egg shell object, Shadow, Gold Band, Diamonds, and your white in the back of the pile of objects.

b. Duplicate, Flip sideways, and move to the other side.

c. Select your lowest "white inside egg shell" object you just moved and Send to the back.

d. Drop the peg below the two white shell parts and adjust the shell parts around the peg.

21. Now select all these egg parts (front and in the back) and raise them up higher on the peg. You are going to have to juggle the parts around so they all fit together like you see below. Depending on how large or small you have made them or any other factors you may have changed along the way figuring it would be ok. It's just a matter of layering your objects correctly in front and around the peg and making sure they don't stick out beyond the gold band at the top.

I also used the Perspective to widen the top part of the white shell parts so they stuck out a bit further than they were. I pulled them out sideways.

22. Line & Arrow tool, my Gold Outer Ring preset, make two half circle curves extending from one shell to the other.

b. Convert the highest one and erase what is in front of the peg.

23. Select one of your white shell parts and with your Paint Brush and the gray you used before (should be already set) use your right angled shape (Settings 16-95-10) and put some shading under the feet of the gold lines you just made all the way back to the edge either way. You will have to select the white shell object in the back of the pack and touch up the edge of that one, also. Use the left angled brush to do the Right side white shells also like you see below.

Now you need to consider what you want for a center piece that rests on the peg or you can make my cross below.

1. Oval Outline, my gold outer ring preset, make one Vertically 47 x 174 px.

b. Now make one Horizontally 209 x 47 px.

c. Make a diamond shape with the gold 'large metal collar' preset. Convert the two bottom lines to Curves like you did for the bottom of the front panel only upside down.

d. Center this piece on the peg. Make your cross centered behind this piece.

1. For the trim on the egg shell make a 2D Object, gold line preset, loop.

b. Edit to make the ends meet at the bottom of the shell.

2. Now make a wavey line.

3. Make 3 small circles 7 x 7 px. or so. Place them where you want them to be.

4. Now place some diamond stamps over the circles about Size 27 or what ever size you made your circles.

Add some sparkles on your diamonds and the shiny parts of the gold in spare places.

You are finished. I hope you enjoy making this fancy egg! :)
