Description: Create a pretty set of heart chimes in any color.

1. Open a new White or Black image 450 X 600 px., 300 ppi.

2. Path tool, 3D Round, Heart Shape or one of your own heart shapes, make one at the top of your image about 165 to 175 px wide.

b. Fix your heart up with a gel preset or marble or some other Exquisite looking color file you have or can find to make this a Gorgeous looking heart.

c. Rclick, Center, Horizontally.

3. Duplicate!

b. In the Mode box above choose 3D Pipe. Oooh look what you've done! Hehe! We'll have to fix that! Open your Material box and change the Bevel Settings (top number) to 3 or 4 and change the Shading tab from Phong to Metallic. If you like the metal you see keep it if you don't use a Metallic preset. We basically want the same shape as your heart in a metal preset here. Choose one you like because we are going to use it a lot! :)

4. With your Transform tool, Resize, Dimensions Locked grab a node and make this ring larger by say a one quarter inch around.

b. Select both pieces and Rclick, Center, Both.

5. With the same preset as your heart ring turn on the line tool and make a little Curli-q along side of it.

b. Duplicate, Flip Sideways and use your arrow key to move it to the other side.

6. With your Line tool and this metal preset you are using make 5 lines similar in space and thickness to these you see below.

7. Select your metal Heart Ring. Rclick, Duplicate.

b. With your Resize tool make this ring around 80 to 84 (I used 84) px wide and duplicate it 5 more times positioning the heart rings as you see them below. Space them evenly by Rclick, Duplicating and using your key board arrow keys to move them sideways or up and down.

8. Select your main blue heart and Duplicate.

b. Resize this to a small 25 or 30 px wide. (I used 30.)

c. Move down and center in between the two metal rings on the center line.

9. Duplicate again, Reduce this to 7 or 8 px wide and make 5 more of these to circle your heart.

b. Open your Layer manager and Select all these little hearts and this center heart and Rclick, Group.

10. Duplicate 4 more times and place them like so.

11. Click on your big center heart and Duplicate, Reduce with dimensions locked to 7 or 8 px to match your medium sized heart. Place them like so around the rest of your lines.

12. Select your second line in from the left.

b. Rclick, Convert to Object (from text/path to image).

c. With your eraser erase the center of this line. Use 10-0-1 soft edge for your settings.

d. Do the same with the 3rd line and the 4th line inside those hearts.

e. Save your file with a new name (add a 1 or a or whatever).

13. With your Magic Wand, default settings, and the + sign on in the menu above, select all the insides of your hearts. You can do this step one heart at a time if you wish so you can change the colors of the glass if you like on various ones.

b. Rclick, Expand by 2 px. Circle selected. Apply.

c. Edit, Trace Edges, Selection Marquee and accept the defaults. Now you have many more options.

d. Turn from Horizontal Deform to 3D Round. Your heart shape turns to hearts filled in.

e. Turn to 2D Object and they turn to your color. In my case I used a stained glass, silver pattern for my original heart and used the Shading to turn it blue, so I ended up with stained glass tiles in this mode.

f. And in 3D Trim mode I come up with this.

14. Once you decide on saving all three of these with a separate name so you can keep each one, go back to your original file, and click on the glass preset of your choosing.

b. Or if you used a file or a preset you wish to keep, open the material box and move the transparency up to 75/50 or 80/8 or around there.

Rclick, Send this piece to the back.

15. I also Duplicated my large heart again, changed it to 3D Pipe, a width of 3, and used it for a ring around my heart. Move it down to just above the large heart. I also made a quick bow. :)

16. Add one last line at the top or use a chain you can make from circles and narrow ovals to hang your chime by.

Other than playing around with these combinations of colors, transparencies, etc you are finished with this heart chime.

I hope you had fun.

Make it a Tube

Make sure everything is the way you want it to be, and click on the Eye at the top of the Layer Manager to hide the background or the eye beside the bottom most layer in the newer versions of PI and Save it as a .psd (PhotoShop file) This is the same type of file as a .tub/psp or a .png file as they keep the transparent background. :)
