Berries

1. New Image, white, set up like below.

2. Path tool, 3D Round, Oval, some kinda darkish Green or #008800. Draw a small narrow oval in the bottom left corner 13x23 px. Open the Material box, Bump tab, click on File, go to C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 10 (your version)\material and find Paper009.jpg. Click on it to apply. You may choose any 24 bit bump/ref file you would like, but some look better than others. If you grab an 8 bit image by mistake, PI will let you know you can't use it. :)

Create 2 more berries of small various sizes around this one like so. Don't worry that my berries in the preview are already turned. I'll show you how to turn them after you get them all created.

3. Move up on your canvas, and create 5 more of small various sized berries spaced around like this.

4. Move up on your canvas again and over a bit to the right a bit, and create 5 more small various sized berries spaced around.

5. Move up on your canvas again and over a bit to the right a bit, and create 5 more small various sized berries spaced around.

6. Move over just a little to the right, and create 5 more small various sized berries spaced around.

You should have 5 sets of berries similar to this pattern on your canvas now.

7. Click on the first berry you created, and get the Transform tool, Rotate by Degree, and set it for 16. Don't forget to save along the way!

Now click the round arrow once to the left. Get the next berry up, and turn that left, too. The next berry up turn Right once or twice. Keep doing this as you go through the berries you created turning them one way or another for a natural look. You can vary the amount of rotation down to 8 degrees also for less rotation at one time. Now you should have something pretty close to what I have here. Don't worry if your berries are turned differently. That's just kewl, and makes it your own! :)

Main Stem

1. Path, Line & Arrow tool, Spline, 3D Round, same dark green color. Start above your first 3 berries and create a line between your berries to almost the very end of your canvas.

Open the Material box and set the Bevel (Border/Depth) tab to width 2, and depth 15.

2. Path Edit this line so it is as smooth as possible like a stem would be. It doesn't matter if it's over some of the berries.

When you are finished editing, Rclick, Arrange, Send to Back.

Stems

1. Draw 1 line from the side of the main stem to the lowest berry extending the line over the top of the berry. Try to get it centered going over the berry.

Open the Panel and change the width to 1, and the depth to 15. If some of the stems show too much twisting lower those widths to 10 or 8.
Draw 3 lines from the end of your large stem down to over your first 3 berries like so. Move the stem over so it is on top of the main stem to hide the ends. (See below.)

Edit each line, if you need to, so it is going into (over top of) the center of each berry. Save!

When you are finished with your 3 lines, select them all and drag them down under the first 3 berries. Select the berries and Rclick, group.

2. Follow this process for each of the 5 sets of berries. Make sure they fit neatly around the main stem. And be sure they go into or over the top of each berry in the center. Curved lines are best where ever possible. Move each set of stems down under the berries they go with, and group.

Leaves

1. You may use the Path tool, Custom Shape, some leaf or you can create your own little shaped leaves to go with your berry sprig.
